In This Episode

In this episode, I talk about designing a fee based financial planning practice to support your ideal lifestyle.  With so many people being so unhappy about not being able to spend more time with their family, friends and hobbies, in this business, it is possible to design a lifestyle that is supported by your business – and not the other way around.

This podcast is my way of bringing together like-minded financial professionals so that we can communicate and share what’s working (and more importantly, what’s not) in the world of financial planning.  So, Subscribe for Free Now!  My plan is to record a new episode on the 1st and 15th of each month.  Subscribing today will deliver these episodes to you as soon as they are released.

  1. Very informative. Thankyou Scott. We are facing legislation changes in Australia and heading down the fee for service path looks like being a must in the future both in fin planning as well as mortgage broking based on current industry commentary.

    • Phillip, I couldn’t agree more. Here in Canada, there is a lot of resistance from advisors and manufacturers when it comes to banning commissions. The reality is that consumers are going to force the hand of advisors even if the regulators don’t so migrating to a fee based financial planning model in advance of the regulation is probably the smartest thing an advisor could do to protect their future. Times are definitely changing and fee based financial planning is the leading edge of the wave of change in this industry.

  2. It was reality , It was like commentary about what I am thinking right now ! I am in this dilemma of transition and your own thinking about FP in 90’s is my present situation .the two sales kings you were talking about from your insurance days ..actually I had same experience . one was my upline other was my downline .Both are not in business.they did not survived because of easy money making strategies .let me confessed both were performer and more sucessful and had rewarding career.I can relate with your early days .
we are also going through regulatory changes in this situation taking hard or challenging path for income is like taking risk for your own financial well being .still with your step by step approach will build up practice in 12 months.

    • I am so happy that my story is resinating with you and that you are finding the episodes of value. Thanks for your comments and let me know if there are any other questions along the way.

      Scott
